JULY 12: NEW ILLUSTRATIONS

Here's a sneak peak at some of my new work.  Only this one for now... more to follow.  After working on the crust typo wall, more and more type is creeping into my work combine with my illustration.  So I have set myself a new little project, to illustrate some typically English sayings, like 'on yer bike', 'keep your hair on' and "its all going tickety boo' .  Hoping to get this one screen printed. What do you think? Click on the image to see it in full.

JUNE 2012: AIRE DO FESTIVAL

Post working with the lovely organisers from Beat Herder, they asked me if I could work on some branding ideas for another festival they were involved in, in West Yorkshire called the Aire Do.  I worked up a few designs, all of which had a illustrative slant.  This is the style that they liked the most - a hand-drawn biro design.  I've since created other collateral from postcards, to posters and banners.

JUNE 12: BEAT HERDER FESTIVAL DESIGN

Last year I went to a great little festival called The Beat Herder. I noticed their programme wasn't up to much and back in January, made links with the organisers and luckily they loved my work and it was a goer from there.  I firstly produced a style guide and draft layouts.  And since June it was all hands to the deck to get it complete in time for print.  This year's festival took place at the end of June and it was lovely to see the programme being put to use by the festival goers.  A little proud moment.

Hoping next year I will be doing much more than the programme and getting involved in the merchandise design and installations. Here's a few pages below:-

MAY 12: CRUST TYPO WALL

Back in May I was commissioned by Kancho Creative and their client Crust restaurant to come up with a typographic wall for the upstairs of the newly created pizzeria in Shirley, Solihull.  The theme was vintage Italia and pizza facts.  I got to work on designing a graphic that would span the 6 metre wall.  The wall was hand drawn by my trusty posca pens and a few splashes of coloured emulsion.  All in all it took 87 hours, and completed in time for the opening thanks to the help of my wonderful friends and family.

See what you think. Click on the images to enlarge

MARCH 12: CULTURAL CHAMPIONS DESIGN

Back in March (I'm playing blog catch up...yes lots of months have past since) I was commissioned to design this years Arts and Business 'Cultural Champions' awards certificate for Jaguar Land Rover.  Which celebrates those making a real difference to their local arts scene.

Inspired by information graphics I came up with a design that
incorporated correlations between the artforms, nomination dates and nominees.  The resulting design was used on the invite, limited edition signed souvenir booklet, poster and the certificate utilising a gorgeous embossed print methoD.   The awards were presented by Bob Warm (off the telly) at Jaguar Land Rover on the 29th March.  It was so nice to have lots of people coming to tell me how much they liked my clever design. (Proper pics to follow)

Infographic for Arts and Business

I was recently shortlisted for Arts & Business commission to design an artwork that would be used across collateral for the Cultural Champions forthcoming awards ceremony. I won the commission and one of the designs I put forward was a info graphic that would correlate nominations with artforms and other data. Through the work I've been collaborating with a cool bloke you might have heard of cmykern AKA James Griffin through his agency Clarkes Associates. The invite used part of the info graphic as a nod to the full design which Ive just completed. I cant put the full design up yet, as its top secret until 29th March, shhhhh.
